BKM History
The foremost centre for arts and culture in Istanbul, BKM was founded on the grounds
of historic Mistik Theatre, on November 11, 1994, and by the initiatives of producer
Necati Akpinar and actor/author Yilmaz Erdogan. Emerging as a solution to the growing
lack of performing space, the main focus was to work on distinctive projects, and
with a wide variety of experienced in-house actors. Since the premier of “Otogargara”
in 1995, BKM has been capable of staging various plays, ranging from one-man shows
to the large ensembles.
Soon, BKM has broadened it’s scope to TV and cinema productions with the addition of BKM Film and to organizing concerts, performances, festivals, panel meetings and seminars by establishing BKM Organisation. |
